Welcome to the March edition of the TORC News bulletin. We have lots to update you all on – the results from last month’s tenant engagement survey, information about community WhatsApp groups, a new addition to the TORC Repairs Team and the winners of the recent photo competition.
There are events upcoming in several TORC schemes – if you are a resident in Galway, Clonakilty, Waterford or Shannon please make sure to register or complete the surveys for these events. The more interest and buy-in from residents, the more successful the community events will be.
I am also currently working on Easter events for some schemes and will be working with residents in the community WhatsApp groups to organise these.
Don’t forget to follow TORC on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

‘You Said, We Listened’: Tenant Engagement Survey Results
Last month we surveyed residents to find out what kind of training, competitions, and events they want to see from Tenant Engagement for their community. A big thank you to all the residents who participated, it’s great to hear your perspectives and ideas.
Survey Findings:
* Residents preferred receiving vouchers for Aldi ahead of any other major supermarket chain.
* 88% of residents surveyed had used their €10 resident Christmas bonus voucher (those who did not stated that they did not shop in Lidl)
* 77% of residents stated that they had heard about the TORC Foundation Education Bursary and were considering applying for it this year. The Remaining 23% stated that they were also aware of the TORC Education Bursary but were not interested in applying for funding.
Ideas for community events:
A community Garden (Clane), Sports day for children (Shannon), Family Fun Day (Clonakilty), Cultural Family Day (Clonakilty), Fundraiser for Defibrillator (Macroom), National Tree week event/ planting in communal areas (Clonakilty), Poetry Competition

Community WhatsApp Groups
There has been some feedback from residents to say that many people are not aware that there are community WhatsApp groups established in 6 of our housing schemes. The purpose of a resident WhatsApp group is to create a stronger community spirit by coming together and sharing information and coordinating meetings, events, and initiatives. You can read the full WhatsApp Group Guidelines here. Some examples of good resident WhatsApp Group use are:
· Disruptions in service (water, electricity, gas)
· Missing/found pets
· Road works/works on site
· Lost/found items
· Offers of help/ sharing equipment
· Reporting good news for the scheme
· Organising community events
· Postal errors
· Ideas for scheme improvements
· Local news and events of interest to residents
· Coordinating meetings
· Crime-related information/reporting suspicious behaviour and concerns around security
There is no group established for Clane or Galway as yet, but if there are enough residents interested we can start one. Everyone interested in joining their community WhatsApp should complete the simple form below:

6/ TORC Top Tips for Tenants
|
Do you Use an Air Fryer in Your Home?
The TORC Repairs team have responded to a number of electrical call outs (which have cost in the region of €300 each) from residents who did not take the correct precautions when using an Air fryer at home. Air Fryers are a great home appliance for saving time and money while cooking, however it is important that you take the time to read the manual and observe the safety advice.
