Welcome to the October edition of the Tenant Engagement News Bulletin! We are delighted to say that this month we have no new resident key allocations as all 465 TORC homes across the country are now occupied (woohoo!). 

This month marks the launch of the TORC Foundation Education Bursary. The TORC team have been working on this initiative for a while, so we are thrilled to finally launch it and invite applications from residents. Apply now for financial support to access an education, training or personal development course. Last month the TORC Foundation also funded some back-to-school assistance for 580 children in 330 TORC households. It was great to get some feedback from residents on this initiative:

“Just to say thank you so much for the back-to-school gift cards – they will really help with the ever-rising cost of ingredients for school pack lunches”

“All the little extras you guys do must take an awful lot of work, but it doesn’t go unnoticed” 

It’s Halloween on the 31st of October so of course we are doing a couple of activities – the Halloween Bingo, and the children’s Costume Competition – further details below.

Annual Resident Satisfaction Survey – 70% response rate!

The Annual Resident Satisfaction Survey is now complete and the TORC team are thrilled to say that we had a staggering response with a total of 320 surveys completed. This included 296 by email and 24 completed over the phone. That’s just under 70% of you who took part and provided us with your feedback! The results of the survey will be released in a ‘resident-friendly’ report on the website next month. Thank you to all residents who participated – your feedback is invaluable to us, and we aim to keep improving our service. 

Winners of the One4All Vouchers will be announced will be announced with the report.

UPCOMING EVENTS

1/ Launch of the TORC Foundation Education Bursary

Have you been thinking about getting back into education or would you like to do an interesting short course? Apply to the TORC Education Bursary! 

The Education Bursary is an annual grant scheme established by the TORC Foundation in 2022 to support residents who are planning to attend a training or education course. It is envisaged that the educational bursary will support residents to participate in a wide range of academic and skills-based training courses. Grants can also be awarded to residents to attend personal development courses. Awards could range from €250 for shorter courses and up to €1000 for longer courses.

To apply to the TORC Foundation Education Bursary, you can submit an application form by clicking here. Visit the TORC Website for the full Terms and Conditions and more information on the eligibility requirements. 

Deadline for applications is 24th October 2022 (you have just 2 weeks to apply!)

2/ Halloween Bingo – deadline for registration is 13th October

Online Bingo is back again! Please join us on Friday the 28th of October at 11:30am for a bumper online bingo session. Online Bingo is open to all TORC residents. Don’t worry if you have never played bingo before, we will run through how to play it on the day. We also post out the bingo books to your home before the game. Why not get into the spirit of Halloween and join us in your favourite Halloween Costume!

3/ Children’s Halloween Costume Photo Competition

Spook us out with your best Halloween costume photo. All you need to do is email or WhatsApp a photo of your child dressed in their favourite Halloween costume. There is one €25 One4all voucher prize for a winner from each TORC Scheme.

Closing date for entries is Thursday 4th November.

4/ Mid-Term Cinema trips – Waterford & Clonakilty

TORC is arranging a complimentary cinema trip, for residents of Presentation Gardens and Pairc Thiar during the school mid-term break. The full details of the film, and the time are still to be confirmed but it will be family friendly and an afternoon showing. Children will need to be accompanied by a parent. To register your interest, complete this form. 

Clonakilty – Wednesday 2nd November

Waterford – Thursday 3rd November

*This is a new initiative but if it goes well and there is interest, TORC will look to do this in other schemes too.

5/ TORC Top Tips for Tenants

Lots of residents have been enquiring about home surveillance devices so for this month’s top tip we have put together all the information you need to know. The keys things are:

– It is possible to have some types of home surveillance installed

– You need to complete an adaption request

– You need to be informed about data protection policies
